American Dream

American Dream

Occupy Wall Street -
Progressing to the social, conscious beat
On the qui vive.
The working class has arisen,
Awoken.
We're turning up the heat
For something long overdue.
You may have more money,
But there's more of us than you.

We're frustrated,
Angered yet passionate,
Patriotic through and through,
And we'll be knocking on your door
Corporate Media, ALEC, Koch brothers, Murdoch, and FOX news.

Fool the unwary.
Continue to make us into something dark and scary.
Declare a war on capitalism, and
Lie to brainwash the citizens
With your big, mainstream media and deceiving descriptions.

You should know, though,
The American people are tired and underpaid.
The sick, the poor, and the middle class have been betrayed.
And we're under attack to pay for your abuse.
How long do you think that we'll allow ourselves to be used,
To be bemused
On the evening news?

Protest I say, like those against us promote when it is off our shores.
Just watch as they try to tarnish our credibility galore,
And our purpose they ignore.

What they can’t admit because they benefit -
Capitalism is coming to an end.
Time is running out.
Desperately on the TV they pout.
What their higher intellectual reasoning fails to perceive
Is that capitalism by its very own nature is greed.
It will suffocate itself
To the point it can no longer sustain,
No longer breathe.
The temperature is rising.
Soon it will begin to seethe.

The workers built this nation,
And we won’t allow you to tear down our ancestors’ creation.
So don’t even bother
To tear up the constitution written by our Forefathers,
For they'll roll in their graves
With our ancestors who paved the way.

To everyone’s surprise,
All of us who have sweated and labored for less than our time,
We will rise!
Rise!
And rise!
Save this country from the big, bad wolf in disguise.

Carry the Statue of Liberty from: New York City
To Buffalo,
Detroit,
Cleveland,
Milwaukee,
Saint Louis,
Miami,
Memphis,
Philadelphia,
And to Washington D.C.
All across this nation -
South, North, East, West and then to Wall Street.
Wake this nation up from its naive sleep,
So we can give our future generations
That vision,
That gleam,
That once upon a time theme,
That not so implausible
American dream!
